PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In his dissertation project supervised by Prof. Dr. Günther Heydemann and consolidated as a subsidiary project in the ‘Saxony Project’ at the Hannah Arendt Institute, Stephan Dehn pursued two objectives: first, an examination of the development of Nazi propaganda in Saxony from 1921 to 1945, with a reconstruction and analysis of the structure of the Saxon propaganda apparatus. Elaborated in particular were vertical and horizontal interactions and conflicts between the various levels of propaganda. Second, he considered the levels of society and modalities of propagating Nazi ideology. The dissertation was accepted in 2015 by the Faculty of History, Art and Oriental Studies at the University of Leipzig.
