„Between Honouring the ‚Child-Rich‘ and ‚Eradicating the Racially Undesirables’ – Racial-hygienic Press Propaganda on the Example of the Saxon Nazi Daily ‘Der Freiheitskampf’”

As part of a Research Colloquium for Doctoral Students on the Topic of NS-“Euthanasia”, Forced Sterilisation and Eugenics of the Memorial Museum Hadamar, Christoph Hanzig will give a talk on „Between Honouring the 'Child-Rich‘ and 'Eradicating the Racially Undesirables’ – Racial-hygienic Press Propaganda on the Example of the Saxon Nazi Daily ‘Der Freiheitskampf’”.

Abstract:

The talk will discuss the promotion of racial-hygienic measures in the Saxon Nazi daily newspaper “Der Freiheitskampf”. Saxony was a centre of the racial-hygienic propaganda and, later on, also of the Nazi medical killings. Therefore, it will be shown what the coverage focused on content-wise and in which points in time the issue was increasingly taken up by the newspaper.
