Beschreibung der Veranstaltung
The present workshop is meant to facilitate discussion on the most suitable approaches to patient-centered and patient-produced historical sources from a broad, digital humanities perspective. We aim to offer participants the opportunity to present their own experiences with both online resources for patient history and their expectations regarding the translation of historical records into a digital format. The workshop’s main goal is to get a sense of what is possible in terms of digital approaches to patient-centered or patient-created historical records, by surveying the range of experiences that researchers in the field have had with their own source collections or with already extant, large-scale digital repositories of historical sources, regardless of format. Building on these discussions, we would like to develop strategies to organize, showcase, and analyze digital records born out of engagement with historical patient-centered sources.
