New affiliated researcher

The HAIT is happy to welcome the Czech historian Dr. Klára Pinerová. In the coming two years (2024-2025) Dr. Pinerová will be an affiliate researcher at the HAIT, while working at the TU Dresden on the research project "Political Polarisation and Communist Past: Czech and German Case (POPOLACOP)." This postdoctoral project is financially funded as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Postdoctoral Fellowship by the European Commission. This research project seeks to analyse the history of victim organisations in Czechia and Germany after the year 1989. The project seeks to study their activities and objectives with emphasis on the politics of memory and their role in its shaping. The project mainly aims to examine victim associations as participants in public life and the formation and maintenance of collective memory as well as how these associations tried to emphasize and utilize or promote their collective memory and interpretation of history in the political process and to contribute to democratization of society.
