The Hannah-Arendt-Institute for Totalitarianism Studies at the TU Dresden (HAIT) is pleased to welcome the Lithuanian scholar Dr. Auridas Gajauskas. Starting this November until the end of January 2026, Dr. Gajauskas will be a visting researcher at HAIT. During this time, he wil work on the research project "Infrastructural Activism in Art, Refugee Care and Resistance against Social and Cultural Exclusion". His time as visiting researcher at HAIT is supported by the DAAD.

The research project explores infrastructural activism as a form of art and a way of social and cultural integration of refugees and other excluded groups. At HAIT, Gajauskas explores the social and historical circumstances of the acceptance of the refugees and social tensions during and after the COVID-19 pandemic in Dresden and Germany. By comparing the results of these investigations with those he made in Lithuania, he will analyse manifestations of totalitarian power and the possibilities of social and cultural inclusion in contemporary, post-Soviet societies.
