Farewell to Gabriele Schmidt
After almost 31 years, the HAIT says goodbye to Gabriele Schmidt as a member of the library staff. After working at the TUD library (now the SLUB), her path led her to the Hannah Arendt Institute for Research on Totalitarianism in 1993, where she has been involved in the development of the specialist contemporary history library since its foundation. She has made a significant contribution to making the library what it is today: a valuable resource for researchers and students, a place for encounters and the exchange of knowledge. Gabriele Schmidt's extensive knowledge of the collections and her great commitment to supporting colleagues at the library and its guests have enriched and greatly facilitated the work of many of us. Her enthusiasm for her work is also evident in the interview for the article “'Ich komme gerne hierher' – Die Bibliothek des Hannah-Arendt-Instituts für Totalitarismusforschung (HAIT)” a few years ago.
We would like to thank Gabriele Schmidt for her many years of outstanding and very dedicated service and wish her all the best for the next chapter of her life.
