PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The volume edited by Mike Schmeitzner and Francesca Weil appeared in 2014 in the series introduced by Ch. Links Verlag of Berlin and provides information on more than 80 prominent sites as well as important events and people of the time. Multiple maps and numerous historical photos aid the reader in the search for historical traces, as does information on museums and memorials. The volume’s 127 pages equally cover all Saxon regions, even if the focus lies on Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz and Plauen. Besides the leaders of the Nazi regime in the Gau of Saxony – such as Martin Mutschmann – arms factories, Thingstätte, Nazi organisations, but also political opposition and persecution of Jews, are the subjects of reporting. The volume itself has appeared both ina bookstore edition and as a special edition for the Saxon State Centre for Political Education, amounting to a total of 6,000 copies. The book has also been presented to interested audiences at several locations and quite warmly received.
